General information

The aim of The Iceland Touring Association, founded in 1927, is to promote and organize travelling within the country.

The ITA owns and operates numerous mountain huts where hikers and other travellers can get sleeping bag accommodation (pre-booking necessary).

The ITA also offers a variety of tours all the year round; one day tours (walking, cross country skiing or bus tours), weekend tours (Friday evening till Sunday) and longer tours. See Tour page for information. In many of the longer tours sleeping bag accommodation is proved for in the Association´s numerous mountain huts. Participants must bring their own provision and camping equipment. On our website you will also find information on some interesting hiking trails.

Booking must be made one month in advance of departure of the longer tours and 4 days before departure in weekend tours. It is not necessary to book in advance for day´s tours except a few longer or special tours.

Departure is from Mörkinn 6, 108 Reykjavík. Members get discount of the price of tours and of overnight charges at the Assocation´s 37 mountain huts.
