Dalakofi
Dalakofi is nestled in Vesturdalur north of Laufafell, on Syðra Fjallabak (Laufaleit). The easiest way by car (accessible to modified or lifted jeeps) is to take F210 from Keldur to Laufafell, where a 7km long side road marked Hrafntinnusker/Dalakofi leads to the hut. The hut is part of Dalastígur, which starts in Landmannahellir and goes through Dalakofi, Hungurfit to Mosar by Markarfljót.
Facilities:
Dalakofi is a shelter that accommodates 22 people. There are two sleeping wings with cooking facilities, a dining room, and toilets in between. The hut has good cooking facilities with gas, kitchen utensils, tableware, and cold running water. The charcoal grill is a primitive hearth grill. The winter toilet is south of the hut.
Nearby Sights:
The area around the hut boasts colorful and diverse nature, featuring hot springs, craters, waterfalls, springs, and colorful mountains and canyons.
Dalakofi was built by Rúdólf Þórarinn Stolzenwald in 1975 and will be 50 years old this summer, 2025. His descendants are the current owners of the hut.
