Dreki hut is located at the mouth of the Drekagil gorge, just under the East side of the Dyngjufjöll mountains. The huts can be reached by mountain road F88 from the ring road east of lake Myvatn or by mountain road F910.

The accommodation in Dreki consists of two huts where total of 55 persons can sleep in - and one sanitary house with 4 WC, plus one with wheelchair access. The shower facilities by the hut are open during the summer months while the hut wardens are in the area. The huts have kerosene-operated stoves for the heating of the huts and gas for cooking and there are some utilities such as plates, glasses, cutlery, pots, pans and such. There is also a camping site by the hut, we don´t book for the camping site.

Mountain huts in Iceland only offer sleeping bag accommodation. You must bring your own sleeping bags and pillows with you. We have no linen or blankets to let out and you must also bring all food with you, the closest supermarket is by lake Myvatn.

The huts are open from approx. June 20. - Sept. 15. depending on weather conditions.

There is a marked walking trail from the hut W across Dyngjufjöll massif into Askja caldera and also N to Bræðrafell hut. The Drekagil area is an ideal base for those who to explore the Askja caldera (9 km by car).
